The next leg took us to the Alligator River then on to Bright Creek in NC on November 11th. The ICW in NC goes for 295 statute Miles. This becomes a little confusing when we have to change everything to nautical miles. To convert it we traveled 61.2 Nautical miles today or 76 statute mile. The goal is to arrive in Marathon FL on Dec 1st. We are at 175 Statute Miles into the ICW. That means we have 1023 Miles to Marathon, FL. at an average of 65 miles per day that should put us in Marathon, FL in 16 days or November 27th or Thanksgiving Day. However if we pick up 4 days of weather and stops that would make it December 1st.
On our 2nd day in the ICW we didn’t get to many pictures but this one of a swing bridge in NC was very nice. We had 4 boats lined up waiting for it to open. But it wasn’t to bad a wait though so it was fun.
This a shot of our anchorage on the 10th. It was located on the Alligator River in NC. I would refer to it as a swamp although we did not see any alligators. We really did not want to see any either. We look forward to most wildlife but not the alligators.
When we left this morning it was foggy and dreary. We had a narrow channel to go through so it was nail biting time. These are pictures of the foggy channel.
This is a shot or=f our GPS. It is really accurate however sometimes it can be a bit off. The white is the channel track that we were following. It also gives speed and heading as well as Latitude and Longitude. Very accurate most of the time.
We couldn’t identify these birds in the trees. They were gathered together and we were not sure if they were Crows, Vultures, or some kind of Eagle?
We got some fall foliage pictures. In some places it has not snowed yet. But we did see some great fall colors.
So we are parked on the Neuse River in NC. We should be through NC Thursday night.
We have our tickets back to Minnesota on December 14th. We expect to be there until December 28th to before driving back to Florida.
