After some great time with family we are off again.
We left the Magothy River at about 8 AM Tuesday morning.
We were a little stuck on the low tide but managed to back out of our slip and get into the river and on our way.
After leaving the Magothy River we were back into the Chesapeake Bay. We then headed south and saw the Kent Island Bridge from the water, after seeing it from the air with Dale & Brandy.
It is quite a bridge from the water. It is also very busy with boats from all over the world heading for ports up the Chesapeake Bay. When we left on Tuesday it was very busy.
We also saw quite a few light beacons guiding all those ships.
A beautiful trip down the Chesapeake. We anchored on the Patuxent River on Tuesday night.
A note on daylight time and on the road. When we left Knife River, MN on July 30th, 2014 the sun rose at 5:46 AM and set at 8:44 PM giving us 14 hours and 59 minutes to travel in. Today here the sun rose at 6:39 AM and set at 5:04 PM with a total of only 10 hours and 25 minutes of daylight. That’s a loss of 4 hours and 24 min. When you traveling only during daylight hours and only at 6 knots that really decreases the distance you can travel in a day! That’s about a 33% reduction in travel time or at 6 knots changing from 90 nautical miles per day to 63 nautical miles. OK now that I’ve had my say on to the travels of “Adventure”.
