Leaving Deltaville for the ICW

This will be a 2 part post.

The first part will be the actual trip the second part will be the shipyards at Norfolk, VA.

We got off very early this morning and watched the sunrise over the Chesapeake Bay.  I already posted those pictures.

The first Light House was called Wolf Trap Light and was a marker for the Chesapeake Bay Channel.

Wolf Trap Light

Not sure of the name for this Light House but it was pretty.

We actually left at 6:00 AM and traveled 50 NM today at the slowest of average speeds of only 4.8 knots.  I still struggle to understand Tides that is why it was so slow.  The good news is we arrived in Norfolk, VA and the ICW.  We have 1098 miles in the ICW then 100m miles to Marathon, FL.  Hope to arrive by December 1st.

We saw this Tow Boat pulling this barge.  They were about 1/4 mile apart so it was a long cable.

A Really nice Yacht

Then we managed to get all the way to Norfolk, VA.

Here was our welcoming committee to the ICW

It was hard to take pictures of the Tunnel that runs under the Jamestown River from Norfolk VA to Hampton, VA.

We arrived at 4:30 tonight and have the anchor out.  Now for a comfortable evening.

At sea, I learned how little a person needs, not how much.
